reporting the fee will break the club ‘s transfer record. The 25-year-old Frenchman joined the Black Cats on loan in January and immediately became a key figure. Making 18 appearances as compatriot Regis Le Bris’ side won the play-offs
to return to the top flight for the first time in eight years. Clausura triggered the permanent move for Le Fey and on Tuesday he sign a contract at the Stadium of Light until 2029.
The previous record was set by Didier Ndong for £13.6m in 2016, but Le Fey overtook
him last summer. Le Fey had only been signed by Roma for around £20m from Rennes in his homeland. But failed to make just 10 regular appearances before being loaned out. “
